Repair An Eljer Shower

Eljer shower repair is the perfect DIY project.

If you are experiencing problems with your Eljer shower, the shower's stem, which mixes the water and controls the flow of it, is worn out and requires replacement. For those who thrive for little DIY jobs around the house, this is right up your alley. You can find Eljer shower stem replacements at your local hardware store or online if you want to bargain hunt.

Instructions

Removal

1. Close your home's main water valve.

2. Remove the handle from your Eljer shower. Use an Allen wrench to loosen the screw on the underside of your shower's handle.

3. Remove the screw or clip holding the stem in place. The screw is located on the tip of the stem, and the clip is where the stem meets the brass mixing valve.

4. Remove the stem from the mixing valve with a pair off pliers, rotating it counterclockwise.

Installation

5. Insert the new stem into the shower's brass mixing valve where you removed the old one from.

6. Reinstall the screw or clip that holds the stem in place.

7. Place the handle back on the faucet, tightening the screw on the bottom of the faucet.
