Recognize Symptoms Of Cystitis In Men

Cystitis is the medical term that defines a bladder inflammation, which leads to infection. Bladder infections are more common in women, but they can and do occur in men, typically those over 50 years of age.

In many cases, cystitis in men occurs because of problems with an enlarged prostate, but risks increase with the presence of kidney stones or tumors. Caused by a bacterial infection in most cases, cystitis usually starts in the kidneys or the prostate. People suffering from diabetes may have more trouble with bladder infections than others.

Instructions

1. Pay attention to any sensations of burning or pain while urinating. While you may feel like you have to urinate more often, you may notice that the amount of urine actually passed is quite small. Feeling like you have to urinate even though you just went to the bathroom in a very common symptom of a bladder infection.

2. Pay attention to any pain in the pubis region of the body as well as any discharge you may notice. While this is not the most pleasant suggestion, be alert to any foul smells from urine as well.

3. Watch for abdominal pain or discomfort, which is also a common symptom of bladder infections.

4. Check the color of the urine---it should be almost clear. Cloudy urine indicates infection and redness may be a sign of blood in the urine. This is definitely not normal and should be assessed by your doctor as quickly as possible.

5. Take your temperature. Low grade fevers are also common with bladder infections or inflammation.
