What Is Watkins Petrocarbo Salve

Watkins Petro-Carbo Salve is a first aid ointment created and produced by the J.R. Watkins company, headquartered in Winona, Minnesota. The company, which has been producing the Petro-Carbo Salve since 1888, claims it only uses high quality, natural ingredients.

Indications

Watkins Petro-Carbo Salve is recommended for skin irritations and injuries such as sunburn, scrapes and insect bites. It creates a protective coating to prevent injuries from re-opening while they heal.

Ingredients

Phenol is the salve's main active ingredient, which has been known as carbolic acid, a useful analgesic agent used for disinfecting medical supplies. Oil of spruce and oil of cajeput are also included, which are known for their ability to ease pain.

Use

When applied to the skin, the salve reduces pain, promotes healing and prevents drying. It contains a non-drying base, meaning the salve will not dry out over time and forms a protective lubrication for the skin.
