Calibrating The Accuchek Advantage

When to Calibrate?

Calibrations should be done any time that you get a new meter, a new box of strips or you have any reason to doubt the accuracy of the results. These uncertainties can arise in situations like where the lid is left off of the container for your test strips, you jar the device, or the results don't seem right for any other reason. Code keys for calibration should come with free each new vial you purchase, so don't worry about not having one when you buy a new vial of strips.

How Do I Calibrate?

Before turning the device on, insert the code key into the code key slot on the back of the device. It should snap into place. Turn on the device. Make sure that the number that appears on the screen matches the code on the side of the vial (a bunch of big numbers on the bottle).

Troubleshooting

If the device displays a triple dash like "---" or an "error" message, make sure that the strip (without forcing it) is inserted completely. Also make sure that the ridges are facing up and that the numbers are on the side facing out toward you.
