Prevent Non Hodgkins Lymphoma Cancer

Prevent Non Hodgkins Lymphoma Cancer

Non Hodgkin's lymphoma is a form of cancer that starts in the lymphatic system. This is a particularly tough cancer to treat, as the lymphatic system is present throughout the body, and many organs can therefore be affected. There are no known causes for non Hodgkin's lymphoma, but there are a handful of risk factors that people should keep in mind when determining whether or not they should work to prevent the disease.

1. Know if you qualify as an at-risk patient. Risk factors for non Hodgkin's lymphoma include a genetic history of the disease, advanced age (people 60 and over are most likely to contract this form of cancer), prolonged exposure to sunlight and exposure the certain chemicals.

2. Educate yourself on your family's medical history. If you have a lot of family members who have contracted any form of cancer, you may be at a higher risk.

3. Pay special attention if your immune system is compromised in any way.
