Spot Symptoms Of Pierre Robin Syndrome

Pierre Robin Syndrome (also called Pierre Robin complex or sequence) can be noticeable from birth if doctors and other health care workers know what they are looking for. An infant born with the syndrome will possess very distinct facial structure. Those with Pierre Robin Syndrome will have a smaller than average lower jaw. The size of the jaw makes it easy for the infant's tongue to fall back into his or her throat. The child will probably also have a cleft soft palate. The exact cause is unknown, but it's thought to be part of other genetic syndromes.

1. If you or your doctor suspect this syndrome, monitoring the growth of your child's lower jaw the first few months of birth is the first step.

2.
