Calibrate With Muscle Testing

Muscle testing, also known as applied kinesiology, is a biofeedback technique that many chiropractors, naturopaths and other holistic healing practitioners use to gain information directly from the body's own innate intelligence. Muscle testing can be a powerful tool for regaining and maintaining health and well-being. By learning perform muscle testing at home, you can discover which foods, supplements, medications (and even thoughts) are best for you - and which ones you may want to avoid.

Instructions

1. Stand facing your partner. Extend your right arm out parallel to the floor and keep your left arm relaxed at your side. Have your partner place her right hand on your left shoulder, and two fingers of her left hand on your wrist.

2. State your name out loud, saying "My name is (blank)." While holding your extended arm firm, have your partner place downward pressure as if trying to push (but not force) your arm downward. If the arm remains strong and firmly in place with only a slight bounce, this is considered a positive or true response. If the arm goes weak and can easily be pushed downward, this is considered a negative or false response.

3. Repeat step two using a fictitious name. Since the bodymind knows you are stating something false, the arm should go weak. Practice a few more rounds of making true and false statements to verify the process is working correctly. Examples may be "I am six feet tall" or "I am 39 years old." Do not try to force the arm down, but rather, notice changes in its strength as firm but light pressure is applied.

4. Swap roles so the tester is now the one being tested, and continue practice muscle testing. Notice that when a true statement is made the arm stays firm, and when a false statement is made the arm is easily pushed down with relatively light pressure.

5. Choose a substance to be tested. This may be a food, a supplement, medication or anything in the environment. Have the subject hold this substance in his or her left hand and against the solar plexus (abdomen) area. Test the arm. A positive or strong response indicates the substance is either neutral or good for your bodymind, and a negative or weak response indicates the substance is either unwanted by or harmful to the bodymind.
