Can Salad Dressing

Canning salad dressings is as easy as canning other liquid and semi-liquid materials.


Making and canning homemade salad dressing at home gives you the ability to save it for future use regardless of the occasion. When you make and can salad dressing, you can preserve flavors from your own garden, formulated with care. Instructions


1. Fill an 8 oz. canning jar up to the first line at the top of the jar with salad dressing. The recipe you choose is up to you such as a homemade oil vinegarette or even ranch.


2. Fill the stockpot half-full with water. Turn on the stove to a high heat.


3. Secure the lid on the jar of homemade salad dressing. Twist the lid on tightly.


4. Sit the jar into the water and lit it boil for three minutes. This is what is known as a hot water bath and allows the canning jars to become airtight, aiding to the preservation of the ingredients inside the jar. Remove the jar using the canning tongs and sit on your counter to cool to room temperature. This may take a few hours.


5. Place the cooled jar of homemade salad dressing in a cool, dry place such as a pantry or closet.
