Begin To Quit Your Compulsive Gambling Addiction Today

Quit Gambling: Beat Your Compulsive Gambling Addiction

If you decide to quit gambling because a compulsive gambling addiction has created a problem for you, you are actually making a very brave decision. It is not easy to stop gambling, especially when it filled a very big void in your life. Also, if you used gambling as a coping skill for life stressors, it can make this even harder.

Instructions

1. Every day that you wake up, make a decision not to gamble. When you wake up in the morning tell yourself, "I will not gamble today because I made a decision to stop gambling"

2. Write down the benefits of your decision to quit gambling. How will your life improve once you stop your compulsive gambling addiction? This list will most likely be long, as you will be able to see how your gambling problem has truly effected your life negatively.

3. Call all of the gambling casino establishments that you went to in the past and take your name off the list. You do not need temptations from these establishments in your mission to quit gambling.

4. Fill your schedule on a daily basis. Make sure that all of your time is accounted for so that you will not have free time to go an gamble. This will help you stop gambling because your life is already full of other activities and relationships.

5. Do not keep access to cash on you. This is important, because as you are trying to quit gambling, you do not need the temptation of easy cash. Only keep a small amount of cash on you and a credit card for emergencies with a low balance. If you need help with this, ask a close friend or a family member.

6. Join a 12 Step support group such as Gamblers Anonymous or even an online stop gambling forum such as the Safe Harbor Compulsive Gambling Hub.

7. Seek counseling if you are depressed or suicidal as a result of your compulsive gambling addiction. This is crucial as your personal safety comes first. A counselor who specializes in gambling addiction can help you quit gambling and reclaim your life.

8. There are plenty of self-help for gambling courses on the market, one of which I highly recommend in the resources below.
