Cleanse A Stomach Virus

Stomach viruses are micro-organisms that cause gastroenteritis, which means inflammation of the stomach, small intestines and large intestines. When affected with a stomach virus you will be afflicted with symptoms such as vomiting or diarrhea. Additionally, you may also be affected with a headache, fever and abdominal cramps (aka a stomach ache). The symptoms begin one to two days after infection of the virus and could last up to 10 days. By using the methods below, you can effectively cleanse a stomach virus.

Instructions

1. Drink plenty of fluids such as juice and water to help flush out stomach viruses. This will also keep you hydrated since stomach viruses cause diarrhea, which makes you lose fluids and electrolytes.

2. Treat the pain associated with the stomach virus infection. When you don't feel pain, you can relax easier and your immune system can focus more on eliminating the virus. Take an over-the-counter medication such as Excedrin or Tylenol. Follow the directions on the bottle for proper dosage.

3. Avoid dairy products. Dairy products like milk and cheese have a laxative effect, which can aggravate your stomach, slowing it down from eliminating the virus.

4. Avoid foods such as tomato products and greasy foods. Also avoid drinking citrus, alcohol, coffee or carbonated drinks. These foods and beverages hinder the cleansing process of your stomach.

5. Rest often and avoid strenuous activities. Your nutritional intake can be low because of the cleansing process from avoiding certain foods. By resting, your immune system can recover its needed energy to eliminate the stomach virus.
