Prevent Mosquito Bites Naturally

Prevent Mosquito Bites Naturally

Often used as a dietary supplement due to its high vitamin B content, Brewer's yeast is believed to be effective in preventing mosquito bites. Mosquitoes appear to be repelled by B vitamins, which are excreted through the skin. Brewer's yeast can also be rubbed on the skin to repel insects. Taking vitamin-B supplements, particularly thiamine, may also help repel insects.

Instructions

1. Begin adding brewer's yeast into your diet a day or two in advance if you know you are going to be exposed to mosquitoes.

2. Look for nutritional yeast or debittered yeast at your grocery store or health food store.

3. Mix one tablespoon of brewer's yeast in warm water daily for a nutritional supplement drink.

4. Sprinkle brewer's yeast over your food or add to a smoothie.

5. Add one or two tablespoons of yeast to baking recipes to boost nutritional content.

6. You can also purchase brewer's yeast with garlic at many pet food stores and add it to your dog's food to help repel fleas and ticks.
