Find Your Yin

Yin energy is more feminine in nature.

Finding your yin, and focusing on the totality of your energy signature, can be an aid to create more harmony and serenity in life. Focusing on yin energy, which is regarded as energy with female characteristics, can help a person stay in the moment and bring subconscious understanding into everyday life. Finding balance with yin energy will also help to balance its opposite, the more masculine yang energy.

Instructions

1. Meditate in accordance with yin characteristics. Yin energy is associated with the inner world; it can be seen as calm, quiet and introspective. Play relaxing music during meditation practice and visualize the flow of dark, cool earth-based yin energy flowing into your body from the ground. Yin energy is a contrast to yang, which is active and light, radiating from the solar system above.

2. Practice yoga to reinforce yin energy flow. Yoga is an effective method to enhance yin energy. While the practice is initiated with a yang mindset, the poses, when held, activate a yin mindset. The personal, contemplative nature of yoga can help yin energy to become more pronounced. Holding physical poses can be a way for a practitioner to feel the physical sensation of subtle energy.

3. Clear clutter from your personal living space. Yin and yang energy is thought to be present in objects and the spaces, as well as in the physical body. Cleaning your living space and getting rid of objects that are unnecessary or have negative emotions associated with them can help subtle energy become more prominent in your life. After clutter has been removed, energy flow can be enhanced by following the principles of feng shui when arranging furniture and other decorative items.
