Kinetico K-5 Drinking Water Station- Is it worth the investment?
I have been researching the Kinetico K-5 drinking water station online for quite some time. I noticed that it is very difficult to find pricing of the system so I called my local dealer. I was quoted a price of $1595 for the K-5 Drinking Water Station, or $6750 if I do the Kinetico 4040 whole house system with the K-5 included. Does anybody know if this pricing seems reasonable? Is pricing negotiable on these units with a dealer? Just curious to see what others have paid, or if you happen to know what the actual dealer cost is. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated! What features and benefits did they mention to you about the K5? Did they just tell you prices over the phone? Prices won't be found on websites as each dealer has their own pricing according to their own market. It is a very high quality unit meant for those serious about their drinking water. It is a great investment as it will last decades longer than many ROs out there. They gave me a 45 minute presentation over the phone listing all of the features and benefits. They also gave me a link to a website to receive more info. I don't doubt that it is an amazing system that will provide me with years and years of excellent drinking water. I am always a little leery of salesmen as I am in sales myself. Not sure whether I am getting a fair price or being taken advantage of completely. It seems like you are sitting on the fence and that is wise. Let me ask you this. How is your water currently being treated? I assume you are on city water but what is the hardness? Are you currently buying bottled water? Just out of curiousity, can you review the features they mentioned. Do you live far away from the dealer? I just wondered why they didn't come out and test your water. I understand your hesitation with sales. It is important to understand the facts from the fiction. As a sales rep, yourself, then you should understand the cues of what is straight and what is laced. I hope I can help. Andy Christensen, CWS-II may not be much help, but here goes. had a whole house unit installed in my last house roughly 14 years ago, near flint, michigan. as i recall (my recollection may be iffy) the price was around $2250.00. the house i live in now came with an older kinetico unit or i would have had another installed. i like the fact that they run on water pressure alone the filters are easy to change, clean re-use. i also found that in the case of fluctuation in hardness of my well water, the internal operating (timing) discs are interchangeable. never had a problem with either unit. the price you quoted seems high in today's market where you can buy a house for less than a new truck. if you want a second opinion call **************don't know anything about the water station unit but the whole house unit has pleased my family for a long time. good luck, dan g. They offered to come out and test the water, but I had another company already come out and do a 2 1/2 hour presentation with the standard water testing kit and mini-water softener. I have city water- 15 grain hard. Free time is hard to come by these days so I didn't want to sit through another presentation. The main issue with my water (other than it being hard water) is the fact that it smells bad. Anytime I have out of town visitors they complain. I think I have become immune to it over the years. I also am constantly battling the hard water buildup on the kitchen sink, shower door etc. When they tested the water for the particle count, the tap came in at 262 and the filtered fridge water at 259. When I fill the sink up with water to wash dishes, it usually takes 2 full squirts of dishwashing soap to get any suds in the sink. I do purchase bottled water on a regular basis, primarily to take with me when I am out and about or on the road. While at home I drink water out of my fridge filter. The highlights that they pointed out that I liked were. 1. doesn't run on electricity 2. has a 10 yr. warranty- unlimited on parts and labor 3. uses less salt than most 4. K-5 system can be customized to meet my water needs whether in my current home or a future home. 5. System can be moved to a new location. 6. only needs the filter to be changed roughly 1 time per yr. based on my use level. 7. K-5 maintains great water pressure. 8. 4040 unit is compact with the tank design. 9. Will allow me to use less soap 10. Skin and hair will feel healthier, clothing will be cleaner (no more laundry detergent left in the clothes after they are washed) Any feedback would be appreciated.
