Keeping track of your Emerald Card spending is a simple process.
During tax season, many people opt to have their taxes prepared by companies such as HR Block. For those taxpayers who expect a refund, HR Block offers the Emerald Card, a prepaid debit card. This card also provides a faster method of payment versus receiving a paper check. Some individuals also do not have access to traditional checking accounts. Opting to receive a refund via a prepaid debit card allows you to avoid check cashing fees as well. Once you receive this card, you can access information, such as the account balance, on the HR Block website. Knowing access your balance online for the Emerald Card allows you to keep up with your account activity wherever you are.
Instructions
1. Go to the HR Block website (see Resources). Click on Login.
2. Select Emerald Card from the Account type drop-down box that appears under Banking. Click the Login button to access the login page for the Emerald Card.
3. Enter your User ID in the empty field and click the Next button. If you have not set up your online account previously, then click the Enroll Now link to do so. Enter the requested card and security information to enroll your card. Once your card is enrolled, you can access your account information by returning to the Emerald Card Online Access page (see Resources).
4. Follow the prompts to log in to your account. The card balance and recent card activity will be available for you to view. Other account options, such as the ability to change your PIN, are also available once you are logged in to your account.

Request mobile updates on account activity by logging in to your account on the HR Block website and selecting the option to receive text messages.
