Instructions
1. Talk to your coworkers about what types of things they'd like to see in the first aid kit and make a note of any allergies mentioned. Some people have allergies to materials like latex, so you'll want to be sure to either get non-latex gloves or have both latex and non-latex gloves in your kit.
2. Make a list of the things you want to include in your first aid kit. Most standard first aid kits include gloves, sterile dressings, medical tape, soap, antibacterial hand sanitizer, antibiotic ointment, adhesive bandages in a variety of sizes, eyewash solution, thermometer, scissors, tweezers and aspirin. If you like, you can include a few extra things like cough drops, antacids and a bottle of ibuprofen or acetaminophen for people who prefer not to take aspirin.
3. Select a container to hold your first aid items and clearly label the container "First Aid." Find an easily accessible location--a break room or kitchen is a good choice--to store your first aid kit. Make sure to talk to each of your coworkers to let them know where the first aid kit is located in your workplace.
4. Give your coworkers a little first aid refresher. Ask a medical professional to visit your workplace and talk to the employees about first aid and safety in the workplace.
5. Check your first aid kit regularly. To be sure that the first aid kit in your workplace is properly stocked with supplies, check its contents regularly. Keep a log inside the first aid kit to keep track of each time the first aid kit is checked and when new supplies are added.
