Open A Sterile Package

Sterile packages are designed to keep out germs and bacteria. During packaging the contents are sterilized and placed inside the airtight packages without compromising the sterility. To open these packages without introducing germs to the contents you must take certain steps and use certain tools. This is not a difficult procedure, but it needs to be done correctly.

Instructions

1. Wash your hands and forearms with antibacterial soap. Dry them with a clean towel. Fingernails and hands in general are full of germs and dirt.

2. Place the latex gloves on your hands immediately after washing.

3. Pour a small amount of alcohol on your gloved hands and rub them together. This will help make sure that the gloves are clean and sterile.

4. Use a gauze or cotton pad to wipe the scissors blades and handles with alcohol. You can also soak the scissors in alcohol until you are ready to use them, eliminating the need to wipe them down before use.

5. Cut the sterile package open with the scissors, and lift the contents out.
