Treat Balanitis

Balanitis is inflammation of the tip of the penis. A bacterial or fungal infection is usually the cause, although sometimes an irritant can cause the condition. Diabetic men are more susceptible to Balanitis, and it is more common among uncircumcised men.

Instructions

1. Slide the foreskin back and wash with warm water, at least once a day. If the skin is not inflamed, use a mild soap and be sure to rinse away all soap residue. The foreskin should retract easily. If retracting causes discomfort, see a doctor.

2. Dry the entire genital area thoroughly after each washing. Air dry for 10 minutes, or use a blow dryer three times a day, especially during the hot months. Pull the foreskin back while drying. Replace the foreskin when done. Apply an over the counter anti-fungal ointment once the area is dry.

3. Slide the foreskin back every time you urinate so the foreskin doesn't get wet. Dry the penis completely and slide the foreskin into place. Reapply the anti-fungal ointment as needed throughout the day.

4. Avoid sex while treating Balanitis, or you can pass the infection to your partner, generally in the form of a yeast infection. Once the Balanitis is gone you can resume sexual activity, but be sure to wash and dry the penis thoroughly after sex.
