Home Cure For Dark Circles Around Eyes

Dark circles around the eyes affect many people. Dark circles can be the result of a hereditary problem, lack of sleep, illness or other circumstances. Dark circles give the appearance of being tired or being older than you are. Many people who deal with dark circles under the eyes want a way to cure them. There are home remedies to help you decrease and cure dark circles to help your eyes look younger and fresher.


Chilled Treatments


There are many products on the market now that claim to help with dark circles. Some treatments can be quite expensive. But there are home remedies that can help cure dark circles without expensive treatments. One treatment is to use two spoons. Put the spoons in the freezer overnight, and in the morning place the spoons' curved sides on your eyes for a couple of minutes. You will have to use the spoons in intervals because they will be cold. The cold works by shrinking puffy tissue as well as increasing circulation to help get rid of the dark circles.


Another home remedy is to keep your favorite eye serum in the refrigerator to give it a chill. The cold temperature will work like the spoons to reduce puffiness and circles. Cucumber slices and tea bags also can be used. Thinly slice a cold cucumber. Lie down and cover your eyes with the chilled slices. Leave the slices on for a approximately five minutes. They work by helping to lighten the skin around the eyes, and they are very soothing.


To use teabags, steep the teabags for approximately 10 minutes and let them cool. Place them over your eyes for five to10 minutes. You can place the teabags in the freezer to chill them for an even more refreshing eye treatment. Chamomile is the most recommended type of tea for an eye treatment due to its anti-inflammatory properties.








Sleep Position


One home remedy is to change the position in which you sleep. You can help prevent circles and bags from forming by sleeping in a more elevated position. Try sleeping with a couple of pillows behind your neck and head to elevate them. Elevation helps prevent excess fluid from collecting under the eyes, which can create puffiness and circles.


You should also try to get at least eight hours of sleep each night. Not getting enough sleep can cause the dark circles and bags under your eyes. Getting plenty of sleep helps to give your eyes a more rested and fresh look.


Diet


Your diet can play a big role in developing bags and dark circles. Too much sodium in your diet is not good for many reasons, and it can contribute to dark circles and bags under the eyes. Too much sodium in your diet can cause fluid retention. According to the National Academy of Sciences Institute of Medicine, adults should consume between 1,500 mg and 2,400 mg of sodium each day. Instead, many adults are consuming more than twice that.


You can lower sodium intake by eating more fresh fruits and vegetables. Do not add table salt to your food or use a salt substitute. And stay away from snack foods, such as chips, sodas, canned foods and fried foods.
