Home Remedies For Genital Warts

Genital warts, which are also known as venereal warts, are a sexually transmitted infection caused by the human papillomavirus, or HPV. They appear as a single bump or as a cluster of bumps, cauliflower shaped or flat, and occur around the genital area. There are a number of home remedies for genital warts.

Herbal Salve

You can formulate herbal salves to use as home remedies for genital warts. One such salve involves the use of essential oils, including castor oil, tea tree and thuja essential oils. Combine ½ ounce of castor oil, 1/4 teaspoon of tea tree essential oil and 1/4 teaspoon of thuja essential oil and 800 IU of vitamin E oil. Use a cotton ball to apply it to the wart once a day until the warts are cleared.

You can obtain these essential oils from a health store. For vitamin E, you can purchase two 400IU capsules, and split each one open to obtain the oil inside.

Apple Cider Vinegar

Apply apple cider vinegar to the genital warts. Wet a cotton ball or sterile gauze pad and place over the affected area at bedtime. Secure it in place using a large bandage or surgical tape. Leave this on overnight and change the compress in the morning.

Shaving the area around the warts will make it easier for the bandage or tape to stick. Never scratch or peel off any scabs that may form as the warts begin to clear. Repeat this for up to three weeks.

Tea Tree Oil

Tea tree oil, or melaleuca oil, can also be used for home remedies for genital warts. For centuries, aboriginal Australians have used it to treat a variety of skin conditions. Apply tea tree oil with a cotton ball by taping it to the affected area at bedtime. Leave it on overnight. Repeat until the warts clear.

Milkweed

You can use the sap of the milkweed plant to formulate home remedies for genital warts. This natural substance works by inducing your body to eliminate the HPV virus. Clip off the leaf of a milkweed plant and gather the milky white sap. Combine 2 parts milkweed sap, with 4 parts aloe vera gel and 4 parts vitamin E oil. Apply this to the affected area twice a day. Continue treatment until the genital warts clear.

Onion Juice

Thickly slice up an onion and place the slices into a container. Sprinkle half a teaspoon over each slice. Cover the container and leave it overnight. In the morning, collect the juice that will have formed. Apply this juice to the genital wart by wetting a cotton ball and taping it to the infected area. Change this twice a day.
