Naturally Treat Acne

Naturally Treat Acne

Acne is an annoyance that many of us go through at least once in our lives. Though many acne symptoms are brought on by hormonal changes, there are some natural treatments that can improve the skin's overall appearance. These treatments use no harsh chemicals and end up leaving skin soft, instead of dry and flaky.

Instructions

1. Let's start by cleansing. Clean skin is the first step towards decreasing acne. It is important to make sure that your facial soap is oil-free. You can also make a simple cleanser out of honey and lemon. Honey is a natural astringent and will help purify the skin. Squeeze a little lemon into about a tablespoon of honey and apply to your skin. The acid in the lemon will help penetrate pores, while the honey will sooth and purify the skin. Make sure you thouroughly rinse your skin with warm water after you apply this treatment. If any honey is left on your skin, it will become sticky as it dries, so make sure you get it all off.

2. After you have cleansed your skin, you need to apply spot treatments to any problem areas. Tea tree oil is a great spot treatment. It opens up pores and purifies. The Body Shop makes a great line of tea tree oil products from face washes to spot treatments, but you can also find tea tree oil at your local natural grocery and herb store. Just apply a dab on any spots that need attention.

3. Garlic is another great spot treatment. Though it is stinky, it does a wonderful job soaking up oil and purifying the skin. To apply the garlic, just cut a fresh clove and rub on any problem areas. This is best done as a night treatment because the smell is too pungent for daytime use.

4. These natural remedies used together or on their own should improve the overall quality of your skin. Hopefully these tips have helped you find some viable alternatives to the harsh and skin-drying acne treatments offered at most stores.
