Cleanse The Solar Plexus

The solar plexus, or the third chakra, located between the ribcage and the navel, also includes the lumbar vertebrae in the spine. Physical attributes associated with the solar plexus include digestion, the nervous system and the immune system. Non-physical attributes include power and control. If you are experiencing discord with any of these attributes, your solar plexus chakra may need some rejuvenation.

Instructions

Stimulate the Solar Plexus

1. Sunshine helps to stimulate the energy of the third chakra.

Soak up some sunshine because the sun represents masculine energy, which promotes action and confidence. Nature therapy recommends different environmental settings to stimulate the chakras.

2. Chant the short "O" sound, as in "God," to create vibrations to which the solar plexus chakra responds. Alternatively, use sound therapy by playing lively classical music such as Antonio Vivaldi's "The Four Seasons."

3. Dress in yellow to send the color's vibrations to the third chakra.

Visualize the color yellow, and breathe it into your body. Color therapy uses the concept that different colors each have their own vibrations that affect the energy of the chakra. You can also dress in yellow or surround your environment with yellow. Yellow is the color of optimism and aids in releasing psychological problems.

4. Aromatherapy scents such as lemon and lavender are effective ways to stimulate the solar plexus.

Inhale the scents of lemon, rosemary, lavender and bergamot. These aromatherapy scents will aid in your ability to release negativity, stimulate the intellect and ease mental and physical exhaustion. Add a few drops of the essential oils to your bath water or lotion, use an aromatic diffuser or just add a few drops to a tissue and inhale.

Balance the Solar Plexus

5. Use crystal therapy to bring balance to the solar plexus. Lie on your back and place one or more crystals that correspond to the chakra on your solar plexus (see the Tips section for corresponding crystals). Close your eyes, breathe deeply and relax for at least 20 minutes.

6. The pressure point in the foot's arch connects to the solar plexus chakra.

Use reflexology by finding the pressure point in the arch of the foot. Gently and steadily apply pressure while massaging the point. This technique helps release any blocks to the solar plexus chakra while invigorating the organs associated with the third chakra.

7. Meditate for at least 20 minutes each day. Focus on the solar plexus area, and breathe deeply into this part of your body. Visualize a golden light radiating from this area. Don't allow your thoughts to take over your focus. If you find your mind starting to wander, bring your focus back to your solar plexus.

Tone the Solar Plexus with a Spinal Twist

8. Sit on the floor, and extend both legs in front of you. Sit up straight; don't hunch your back.

9. Cross your left leg over your right leg so your left foot lies flat on the floor by the right knee. Keep the right leg straight, and extend the foot.

10. The spinal twist helps tone the solar plexus.

Bring the right elbow to left knee, and gently twist so you are looking over your left shoulder.

11. Hold the pose for as long as comfortably possible. Remember to breathe deeply and relax while keeping the spine straight. Repeat on the other side.
