How Is Fibromyalgia Related To Hydration

The human body needs water to survive. Primary components of the human body, the bones, muscles and blood all consist of water. Water also aids in flushing the system of toxins that would normally buildup when there isn't enough water consumed. The buildup of toxins can cause the symptoms of fibromyalgia to flare-up. Hydration in relations to fibromyalgia is important to decrease the buildup of these toxins.

What is Fibromyalgia?

Fibromyalgia is a disorder that until a few years ago was thought to exist only in the minds of the people who complained of its symptoms. The problem with fibromyalgia is that it cannot be seen based on standard test. Standard test look for inflammation when associated with pain in the joint and ligaments. For suffers of fibromyalgia inflammation is not found. For one person, the symptoms can be unnoticeable and thought of as normal everyday pains. Whereas for another person the pain is so unbearable, he or she cannot function in his or her daily life. The symptoms of this disorder can begin to affect sleep, physical energy levels, the ability to move and mood. Presently there is no cure for fibromyalgia and patients are encouraged to find ways to deal with the disease.

Dehydration and Fibromyalgia

Fibromyalgia is directly related to hydration in that its symptoms are ignited when the body is without water. When the body is without hydration, it is dehydrated and can begin to break down on the cellular level. According to Leon Chaitow and Judith DeLany, authors of Clinical Application of Neuromuscular Techniques, dehydration causes noticeable changes in personality and can cause coma and even death. They also note the undeviating correlation between fibromyalgia and dehydration.

Hydration

Fruits and raw vegetables can provide at least 20 percent of the water needed for the body. Consume the remaining 80 percent by drinking water throughout the day. Drink water in the morning to aid in decreasing dehydration and flushing toxins stored up overnight. Place a gallon of water on your desk next to your computer as a reminder to drink more water.

Avoid caffeinated and carbonated beverages like coffee, tea and soda that act to reduce the water in the body instead of keeping it. If you drink these beverages then you must drink even more water to compensate for the loss. Avoid alcoholic beverages as this depletes the body of fluids.
