Acne that is classified as toxic-heat acne will have scattered inflammatory nodules as well as abscesses on the face. The tongue may be red with a yellow coating. Ingredients used to treat acne in Chinese medicine include honeysuckle, forsythia, dandelion, lily, peach kernel, sea grass, kelp, angelica root, gardenia, Job's tears, Japanese catnip, licorice and a number of other flowers, herbs, barks and pollens.
Preparation
How an herbal compound is prepared is just as important as the components. Many herbal compounds are boiled into a soup or brewed into a tea. Other preparations include pills, powder, jelly and pellets.
