Urinary tract infections (UTIs) can be painful. Signs include a constant feeling like you need to urinate, painful or stinging sensation when urinating and possibly some blood in the urine. UTIs can be contracted through sexual activity, as a side effect of birth control pills or the contamination of anal bacteria in the vaginal area. Regardless of how it is contracted, a UTI can be treated homeopathically. If the UTI persists for more than 36 hours, contact a physician.
Instructions
1. Take vitamin C and drink cranberry juice during the early stages of a urinary tract infection. Vitamin C works to boost your immune system, which helps fight off infections, and cranberry juice aids in preventing infection. Take up to 1,000 mg of Vitamin C--your body will eliminate what it doesn't absorb. Drink as much cranberry juice as you can tolerate.
2. Take echinacea. Echinacea is another immune system booster, and taking it will enable your body to fight off the UTI better.
3. Drink goldenseal or nettle tea. The liquid will help flush out excess bacteria in your bladder, and combining this with vitamin C, cranberry juice and echinacea will help fight infection and boost your immune system.
4. Eat yogurt. Yogurt contains acidophalus, which is good bacteria that your body normally has. Your body may be low in acidophalus--for example, after taking an antibiotic--and eating yogurt will help re-establish the equilibrium of good bacteria in your reproductive organs and urinary tract.
5. Wear cotton underwear. Cotton underwear allows your genitals to breathe, and synthetic underwear can leave you prone to infection: moist, dark places that can't dry out are breeding grounds for bacteria and infection.
