Plantar Wart Cure

Plantar warts grow on the bottoms of your feet.

Plantar warts are harmless, but they can be annoying and painful. They grow on your feet, so they can be tender when you're walking. Eventually they go away on their own, but if you don't want to wait, there are several effective ways to cure your plantar warts. You can do these cures at home with over-the-counter products or even a piece of duct tape. Some of the cures take several weeks to work, but they are effective if you are persistent.

Duct Tape

Duct tape is often viewed as a way to fix anything, and the Mayo Clinic says it has been proven effective as a cure for plantar warts. A study in 2002 showed that duct tape was more effective than freezing the warts. You simply need to cut a piece of duct tape to size, put it over the wart and leave it there for a week. Remove the tape, soak your foot in water and rub the wart with a pumice stone or emery board. Reapply the tape and repeat the process until the wart is cured. This can take up to two months.

Salicylic Acid

Salicylic acid is a popular and effective ingredient in many over-the-counter plantar wart treatments. You can get it in liquid or patch form. Apply it as directed, and remove dead skin with a pumice stone or emery board before putting on more liquid or applying a new patch. Eventually the entire wart will be removed, although the Mayo Clinic says that it can take several weeks for a complete cure.

Freezing

You can cure your plantar warts through freezing at home, or you can have a doctor do it. There are several freezing products available over the counter, but they are not as effective as cryotherapy done by a medical professional. Doctors use liquid nitrogen, which freezes at a much lower temperature than at-home products.
