Perform The Leg Break Technique In Response To A Front Kick In Samurai Karate

Perform the Leg Break Technique in Response to a Front Kick in Samurai Karate

Samurai Karate is practiced by avid martial artists wishing to preserve this martial art form from extinction and to develop greater physical coordination. This guide explains defend against a kicking attacker intent upon harming you using the leg break technique

Instructions

1. Face your attacker as he approaches. No preparation or stance is necessary for this move. Such things are frowned upon in Samurai Karate as they will warn the attacker that you are both able and preparing to defend yourself.

2. Allow your opponent to strike out with a plain kick directly at you. As he rears back to drive his foot forward, step forward and to the outside of your opponent’s kicking leg.

3. Catch your opponent’s leg with both hands as you sidestep. The arm most distant from your opponent should loop underneath your opponent’s ankle. Your other hand should grasp your opponent’s leg atop the kneecap.

4. Put your opponent off balance by pulling his leg in toward your body. Slide his leg down your most distant arm until his heel is in the crook of your elbow. Lock your elbow as tightly closed as you can to immobilize the leg.

5. Clench down hard on your opponent’s knee with your other hand and twist his leg so the kneecap is facing you more directly.

6. Use your leg closest to your attacker to trip him. Do this by placing the arch of your foot against the back of his heel. Remember that your opponent has only one leg on the ground and is already off balance. Simply fall onto your back, taking your opponent with you. As you strike the ground, use the impact and your own strength to push against your opponent’s kneecap while pulling his ankle toward you using your other arm. This will break his leg at or nearby the knee.
