Find A Jujube Tree In Atlanta Georgia

A Jujube tree in bud.

Jujube, known botanically as Ziziphus jujube, is a deciduous flowering and fruiting tree native to China and also commonly known as Chinese Date. Jujube trees produce fruit for eating fresh, dried or processed into a bevy of foodstuffs. The trees thrive in warm to temperate climates but are hardy in USDA Zones 4 through 10. Atlanta, with a Zone 8 climate and the entire state of Georgia with a Zone range from 7 to 10 provide ideal growing and breeding conditions. However, Jujube trees are rare and exotic, hence they are not widely seen in public landscapes but more commonly in residential yards and small orchards. Two of the most abundant Jujube varieties for growing in Georgia are Li and Tigertooth, according to the University of Georgia.
