Break The Cycle Of Daytime Naps

You sleep all night and sometimes during the day, you just feel like you can't go on and you need to lay down. If you got a full eight hours sleep the night before, this should not be happening. Sometimes napping is a habit rather than a condition. This article will help you break the habit and get your sleep back on track.

Instructions

1. Sleeping at night is a way of the body renewing its resources. The body has to have sleep in order for our organs to continue functioning. Without sleep, the organs would begin to shut down and death would ultimately be the end result. Napping during the day can sometimes be a symptom of a medical condition and sometimes it simply becomes habit. Breaking that habit is a difficult task but it can be done with the want to and the discipline each of us have inside.

2. Understand that breaking the napping habit is difficult but all it really takes is time and discipline. If you have discovered that after meals you feel lethargic and need to sleep, there are a few things you can do to suspend this urge. Begin by getting up and doing something physical. Either walk, make a phone call, get on your computer, or simply wash the dishes. A activity is the best way to take your mind off of the thought of napping.

3. Know napping for no apparent reason is another problem but the same solution can work for that as well. It isn't a good idea to read a book, or even sit and watch television. These activities only exercise the mind and do nothing for the body. If you have children, do an activity with them. Take them to the park, play a board game with them, or any activity that might take your mind off of napping.

4. Restless sleep at night can cause some of us to want to nap during the day. This too can be solved with activity. If you normally go to bed at a certain time, then after just a couple of hours wake and can't get back to sleep, get up and do a small activity to tire you somewhat. This activity can be as simple as reading or watching television. Something that doesn't require physical activity, in this case, is ideal for bringing on sleep. Once you have adjusted your sleep process at night, there will not be a problem of napping during the day.
