Tea Tree Oil Cleaning Uses

Tea tree oil works as a natural antiseptic that can help remove mold and mildew on linens, windows, bathrooms and grout. Many cleaning products incorporate tea tree oil as a natural way to clean and disinfect surfaces. This oil is safe to use around children and replaces harsh chemicals that can cause harm to the respiratory system and skin. Aside from it's disinfecting properties, tea tree oil leaves behind a fresh aroma considered pleasant to the senses.


Tea Tree Oil to Remove Mold and Mildew








A tea tree oil solution can be used to remove mildew and mold from different surfaces around the home. The solution can be created by mixing 2 cups of water and 2 tsp. of tea tree oil in a spray bottle. The mixture must be shaken inside of the bottle for 5 seconds to allow the oil and water to mix well. After the cleaning solution has been created, it can be applied to moldy surfaces to disinfected them. The spray should remain on the surface for an hour to remove the mold or mildew. Once the hour has passed, the surface can be gently scrubbed and wiped off to remove the solution. The scent of the tea tree oil may remain, but should disappear after 2 days.


Tea Tree Oil to Clean Linens


Tea tree oil can help disinfect soiled home linens that may contain mold within the fibers. A 1/2 tsp. of tea tree oil can be poured into water for top load washers and inside detergent trays in front load washers. This oil will mix in with the water and detergent during the wash cycle. Tea tree oil should only be added to the wash and not directly on linens, as it may cause slight discolorations to occur. Adding it to water will not only help remove mold, but it will also clear the smell that mold may leave behind.


Tea Tree Oil to Dust Wood Furniture


Tea tree oil can be used to gently dust and clean wooden furniture in any home or office. Using a mixture of 3/4 cup water, 1/4 cup oil soap, 15 drops cedar oil and 5 drops tea tree oil in a spray bottle, can help condition and bring back the shine of dull furniture. This mixture must be shaken inside of the bottle before being used. Once properly mixed, the solution can be sprayed onto a soft cloth and applied to wood furniture. After the furniture has been dusted and cleaned with the solution, it must be dried off with a dry cloth to prevent the wood from warping. The tea tree oil in the solution will help naturally disinfect furniture and provide a pleasant scent to the room.
