Stop Being Constipated

Constipated? Home remedies for irregularity can be very effective, but to find chronic constipation relief, you have to do more than increase fiber. If other advice has left you still constipated, then use this article to find out what will really work. Remember to discuss your problem with a doctor to be sure that it is not a symptom of something serious- but if your doctor tells you to eat more fiber and exercise more, and your reaction is, "been there, done that!" then try these tips. They should get you going.

Instructions

1. If you are constipated then you need to first review your medications with your pharmacist to find out if anything you take regularly is constipating. Ibuprofen and iron supplements can make you constipated. Talk to your doctor about alternatives. A full review of medication is often overlooked when patients seek chronic constipation relief.

2. Track your food intake and calculate your fiber intake to make sure you are getting enough. It is possible that a lack of fiber is making your constipated. Chronic constipation relief comes from a variety of high-fiber foods from a variety of sources: Lentils, kidney beans, garbanzo beans, fresh fruit, flax seeds, raisins, and prunes.

3. Drink at least 8 glasses of water daily for chronic constipation relief. If don't have enough water to help fiber to do it's job, you will still be constipated.

4. Two important remedies that are known to provide chronic constipation relief are lemon juice and V8. Drink a lot of these. They are natural stool softeners. Drink these regularly, and you probably won't remain constipated.

5. Thicken stews and puddings with guar gum. This is a thickening agent that is commonly used in commercial foods and it is a very good laxative. Just a little goes a long way.

6. Drink a cup of coffee and eat a sweet roll with it. Coffee and sugar are colonic stimulants. Don't use this too often! You don't want to stop being constipated by becoming overweight!

7. Increase your physical activity. Exercise is really important for chronic constipation relief.

8. If these tips don't work, write down everything you eat for several consecutive days. Track your bowel movements on a calendar. Take this information to your doctor. Chronic constipation relief tips should not be used outside of your doctor's supervision.
