Reduce Hair Loss With Diet Changes

There's no question about it. Heredity influences the majority of hair loss. So in most cases, there's little we can do about it. Maybe we can invest in a “rug,” but there's not much left for us to do. However, there are conditions aside from heredity that can lead to hair loss. A poor diet is one of these. Eliminate the bad nutrition habits and eat things that are good for you, and you stand a chance of stemming the loss of your hair.

Instructions

1. Eat more protein. It is commonly believed that if we have too little protein in our diets, our hair will go into a dormant phase where it will stop growing.

2. Eat fewer carbohydrates. If you eat an abundance of pasta, potatoes or rice, you will raise your blood sugar since your body converts carbohydrates to glucose. By reducing the amount of blood sugar in your system, you may reduce hair loss.

3. Reduce your intake of alcoholic beverages to one each day. Drink more than that and you will reduce the amount of Vitamin B and C, zinc and folic acid in your body.

4. Limit the amount of caffeinated products you take in each day. They reduce the amount of Vitamin B, Vitamin C, zinc and potassium in your body. This reduction will cause the adrendal glands to over-work, creating a type of testosterone that leads to the growth of your prostate and to hair loss.

5. Eat foods that contain a lot of iron because anemia is a primary cause of hair loss. You should add things like green and leafy vegetables, cherry juice, liver, eggs, dried fruit and whole grain cereals to your diet.

6. Find ways to add silica to your diet. Silica is helpful in regrowing hair and strengthening follicles, and also gives luster to your hair. Raw oats are high in silica.

7. Cut down on the fat and the salt. Not only do they harm the kidneys and strain your heart, they increase acidity that leads to hair loss. Some believe that male pattern baldness happens to men having an abundance of testosterone, possibly created by consuming a fatty diet.

8. Add soy products to your diet because it has been shown that soy can stimulate hair growth. Products high in soy protein are tofu, yogurt, cheese, eggs and soy milk.

9. Add iodine to your diet and you may see improved hair growth. Spinach, cabbage, carrots, pine nuts, and soy beans are some of the foods that are high in iodine. Finally, use sea salt to enhance the flavor of your food.
