Every day, a huge number of people search the Internet trying to find legitimate work-at-home jobs. Some legitimate opportunities are out there, but you have to use caution because there are also a lot of scams on the Internet. Most of these scams promise easy money by doing very little work. They promise big returns, while taking your money up front. You can recognize and avoid scams that are advertised on the Internet by getting access to an up-to-date list of Internet business scams. There are several methods that you can use to make sure you avoid scams and only deal with legitimate companies.
Instructions
1. Go to a major search engine, such as Google, Yahoo! or Bing and conduct a search using the phrase "work at home job" and "scam." You will see a list of work-at-home opportunities, along with the experiences of people who have been scammed. Stay away from these these opportunities.
2. Avoid sites which require upfront payment to receive job listings. Legitimate Internet work-at-home opportunities do not require you to pay an upfront fee. So stay away from any and all listings that ask for a fee.
3. Visit the Better Business Bureau and enter the name of a company you want to investigate in the search box. The Better Business Bureau keeps a list of companies who are scamming people on the Internet. If there is any complaint against the company, you'll be provided with a report with detailed information. You will be able to see the complaint and if the company made any efforts to resolve the issue. Stay away from any businesses that have bad reports on the Better Business Bureau record. You can contact any of their local branches in almost every state.
4. Go to the Scambusters website and search for a company. Just enter the name of the company in the search box. A report will appear, showing a list of reported scams associated with the company name. If you no results appear on that company, then there were no reports sent to Scambusters.
5. Visit the Ripoff Report website and enter the name of the company about which you want to know more in the search box. If any reports have been filed against that company, you will see them.
