Prevent Drooling







Excessive drooling occurs when saliva drips due to a lack of awareness to swallow the saliva. You can find this is children and adults with certain disabilities. The technical term for drooling is Sialorrhoea. Drooling can be annoying when you need to keep changing shirts or bibs and it can also be embarrassing when done in public. There are a few things you can do to try and prevent the drooling.


Instructions


1. Keep up with good oral hygiene practices. Brushing and cleaning your mouth each day can help keep you from developing excess saliva.








2. Stay away from highly sour and sweet foods. If you notice a certain food or drink produces extra saliva than stay away from it. Avoiding certain food can help cut down on how much drool you produce at each meal.


3. Make sure you are practicing good posture. Eating and drinking with the proper posture can cut down on your drooling. Practice keeping your mouth closed so that you will naturally swallow your saliva instead of letting it spill out of your mouth.


4. Get speech therapy. Utilizing this resource will help train you to swallow your saliva verses allowing you to drool. Therapy is a great way to learn get control over your mouth. You will also learn some great tips and techniques that you can try.
