Shrink Fibroids Naturally

Uterine fibroids are non-cancerous growths that appear on the uterus and typically occur during a woman's childbearing years. Uterine fibroids are sometimes not symptomatic, but can cause heavy menstrual bleeding, cramping, constipation, leg pains and frequent urge to pee. Uterine fibroids are typically discovered while a woman is having a routine pelvic exam. Under the discretion of your doctor, you can look into ways to naturally shrink the fibroids.

Instructions

1. Wait it out. If you don't have any symptoms, you can allow your doctor to monitor the fibroids without any treatment. Fibroids will usually shrink on their own naturally after menopause.

2. Limit the amount of estrogen that enters your body. According to Mary Holmes, a certified menopause clinician with the Women's Healthcare Center in Yarmouth, Maine, reducing estrogen exposure can naturally shrink fibroids. This includes limiting the use of birth control pills, hormone replacement drugs, spermicides and pesticides.

Practice stress reduction techniques. Taking the time to de-stress is said to help shrink fibroids naturally. Stress can deplete progesterone in the body and lead to a surge of estrogen.

3. Watch your weight. Losing weight can potentially help shrink uterine fibroids naturally. Under the care of your physician, start a diet and exercise plan. Eat a low-fat diet made up of mostly fruits, vegetables, whole grains and lean proteins. Make time to exercise at least thirty minutes on a daily basis. Dr. Donna Day Baird of the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina, conducted a study that found active women are less likely to have fibroids.
