Prevent Foot Odor

Do you have smelly feet? If so, you will know that it can be quite embarrassing especially when you have to remove your shoes in public. The condition is known as Bromodrosis and is caused by bacteria that breed in warm, moist, dark areas. So, having sweaty feet is part of the problem. Follow these steps to reduce the sweating and hence the foot odor.

Instructions

1. It is important to shower or bath your feet on a regular basis to keep your feet clean.

2. Make sure that you dry between your toes thoroughly to prevent any moisture being trapped between your toes. This is a great breeding ground for bacteria.

3. Changing your shoes and socks daily is very important. .You should rotate your shoes so that you do not wear the same pair on two consecutive days. This will allow your shoes to dry out.

4. Try to avoid nylon socks or shoes that are made of man made materials such as vinyl. These will make you feet sweat even more. Cotton socks are better as are open toed shoes during the summer months.

5. You should dispose of or wash shoes that smell such as your sneakers. Keep in mind that it is very hard to get rid of the bad odor in shoes once it is there. If you are placing your clean dry feet into smelly shoes then your feet will smell too.

6. If you are still experiencing smelly feet head to the pharmacy to see what products they have. Often a charcoal based insole can be helpful as can some of the foot odor sprays.

7. You should see to your physician or podiatrist if the problem persists. They may be able to prescribe another treatment. In some cases excessive sweating may be associated with a medical condition.
