Teen Questions & Answers On Puberty

Most teens carry a lot of questions about what happens to their body during puberty. Puberty happens between the ages of 10 and 18 with each person having a unique experience and time frame for the natural developments that occur. For teens, getting their questions answered helps them feel normal and understand that everyone else is going through what they are at their own pace.

Boy Question #1: What is a Wet Dream?

Wet dreams, or nocturnal emissions, occur in the middle of sleep and begin during puberty, around 12 to 14 years of age. The masculine body produces new semen everyday. The body naturally releases built up semen during the night as a mechanism of release. The frequency of wet dreams depends on whether other methods of release are happening in a guy's life. Most guys do not have wet dreams as a normal occurrence.

Boy Question #2: What is Normal?

Most guys want to know if their penis size is normal, if their masturbation habits are normal and if their fantasy life is normal. As every person is created uniquely, the answer is most likely yes. All humans vary. Satisfy your curiosity with some answers to those questions. The average penis size of a teenage male measures three to four inches non-erect. Most males masturbate once or twice a day. Men find themselves turned on by a lot of things, especially when the body is going through extreme hormonal changes. Talk with your friends about their experience and get the questions out of the dark.

Girl Question #1: When Do I Get My Period?

Menstruation happens at a different time for each girl. Ask your mom when she started to have her period. Expect to have yours at about the same time. Most girls start to menstruate between ages 12-14. If you have not begun yours by then, avoid assuming there is something wrong with you. No real signs precede the onset of menstruation. It happens when it happens. Embrace it as a good thing.

Girl Question #2: What About My Breasts?

Girls compare their breasts like boys compare their penises. Breast development is dependent on genetics and little can be done to help the process along. Embrace your breast size and growth as normal and beautiful. Avoid negative comparison with other females. Acknowledge your strengths whether they are in the breast department or elsewhere.
