Reiki is the use of "universal life force energies" to help balance the human energy fields. A Japanese technique for stress reduction, it is designed to foster relaxation and healing of the body physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. It is administered by laying on hands and the energy that comes through the hands. Reiki is made up of two Japanese words, Rei and Ki. How Reiki Works
As described by Reiki master Barbara Paulsen of Brooklyn, New York, "If one's 'universal life energy' is low or blocked, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high and balanced, we are more capable of being happy and healthy." A Reiki session helps bring about deep relaxation, removes energy blocks, detoxifies the system and increases vitality. A natural healing process is accelerated in the body by restoring balance.
Techniques For Healing
When stress locates itself within the head or eyes, the Reiki technique would be the same hand variation as for healing of the sinuses, eyes and teeth. Place the hands alongside both sides of the nose with the palms covering the eyes. Allow the thumbs to rest by the bridge of the nose. Lay the fingertips on the cheeks, extending to the upper lip.
The use of symbols might help to clear any emotional or mental blockages, which might help to improve vision. This may occur within the "third eye," the energy center between the eyes. Paulsen states, "When there is impaired vision, our sense of 'sight' can become 'unclear.' With the aid of Reiki, a natural healing will occur thereby balancing and increasing the flow of energy. The client may experience more clarity, an expanded awareness and improved vision."
