Dentures correct dental problems in countless ways.
Finding success with dentures is sometimes difficult work. Dentures must properly function and ensure dental health before meeting aesthetic demands. Making your lower face look wider with dentures, for example, is accomplished with custom implants. While self-fitting dentures may be straightforward to attach and remove, they can create vacuums in the gum area, leading to harmful bacteria growth. A specially designed implant is most beneficial to both keep gums healthy and fix your appearance.
Instructions
1. Schedule an appointment with a professional denture clinic. Ask family and friends for recommendations and/or consult the American Dental Association for a list of professional denture clinic members in your area. Choose a clinic specializing in denture surgery.
2. Speak with the denture surgeon about your desire to expand the width of your lower face. Ask the surgeon about implanting dentures with enhanced labial flanges. The labial flange constitutes the outside of the dentures; specifically, the area occupying the labial vestibule --- the space between the teeth and lips. Follow instructions set by the denture surgeon to ensure success with the procedure. Consult with the surgeon about the recovery time associated with your particular procedure.
3. Monitor denture implants for looseness, especially when chewing on the left or right side of the mouth. Talk to your surgeon if you experience a shifting of the dentures in any way. A surgical correction --- involving a modified denture impression and adjusting the stress-bearing position --- may be required if problems persist.
