Make Cedar Perfume

Cedar essential oil is extracted from the bark by steam distillation.

Cedar perfume requires only three, non-chemical ingredients: essential oil, carrier oil and glycerin, making it a cost-effective, healthy alternative to store-bought perfumes. Cedar or cedarwood essential oil is extracted from the bark of the Cedarwood Viriginia and Atlas Cedarwood trees. The oil emits a soft, woody earthy aroma with faint undertones of sandalwood, juniper berry, pine and cypress.

Instructions

1. Pour 1 tbsp. of jojoba carrier oil into a small mixing bowl.

2. Add 5 drops of cedarwood essential oil to the jojoba base, and stir well with a glass stirring rod.

3. Inhale the cedar perfume to determine if it's the desired strength.

4. Add more drops of cedarwood essential oil if the desired strength has not been reached. A maximum of 25 drops is usually sufficient.

5. Add 1 to 2 drops of glycerin to the perfume blend, and stir well.

6. Pour the cedar perfume blend into airtight, 1 oz. blue or amber glass bottles. Place the lid on tight and shake well.

7. Store the glass bottle in a cool, dark place to prevent evaporation of the perfume blend. Use the cedar perfume within one to two years.
