Many popular diet plans and pills claim to help you cleanse your colon and lose up to 15 pounds in "waste" that has been stuck inside your colon for years. Although this is an attractive proposition, you should understand how a colon cleanse really works and be prepared for the effects. A colon cleanse can help you get a slimmer, sleeker figure in a short time, but it can also be pretty unpleasant.
Instructions
1. Consider a colonic. This is a popular "star" treatment that works much like an enema but actually cleans up to 5 feet of your large intestine. You shouldn't attempt this at home, as these treatments can be hard on your intestines and improper application of the treatment can cause your intestine to rupture--which can kill you.
2. Take 1 tbsp. chlorophyll every day for three days. You can get liquid chlorophyll at many health food and supplement stores. The chlorophyll will flush your system through frequent bowel movements.
3. Stay hydrated. Drinking 8 to 10 glasses of water a day is good for you anyway, but particularly when cleansing your colon. Unusually frequent bowel movements can cause you to become dehydrated. Drinking lots of water helps keep you hydrated and makes your colon cleanse more effective.
4. Stop after 3 days. While the fast results of a colon cleanse are attractive, continuing the cleanse indefinitely can cause serious harm. You may become malnourished because food doesn't stay in your system, and you can create a number of digestive and bowel problems if you don't give your system a break. Furthermore, once you have cleansed your colon, continuing to try to do so will result in painful stomach cramps that don't help you lose weight at all.
