Making gel cold packs are easier than you may thing. I have lots of gel packs in my freezer for many uses and not just for keeping food cold in ice chests or lunch bags. Just think about how useful that can be medically. You can use them on bug bites, bruises or Sunburns, headaches, and muscle pains. In this article you'll find these gel packs are very easy to create and very handy to have on hand.
Instructions
1. This method uses rubbing alcohol and water. you can experiment on how much water and alcohol to add, some people may like their gel pack softer than others. This will depend on how much of each you add. For a soft gel pack add four cups water and one cup rubbing alcohol to a freezer bag. For a firmer bag add three cups of water to one cup of rubbing alcohol.
2. You may want to add food coloring to your gel packs to ensure no one will mistaken the contents for something edible. A good idea would be to use a permanent marker and right gel pack on the outside of the bag and cover with box so it will not rub off onto your clothing or skin.
3. Be certain not have put your gel pack in direct contact with an injury. They can become extremely cold and may cause injury to your skin. It's a good idea to cover the ice pack with a towel, wash cloth or pillow case.
