Cleansing your liver is an important process, since the liver is the organ responsible for cleaning the body of toxins. A proper, healthy diet should consist of as many fresh fruits and vegetables as you can eat, with as little alcohol or other drugs that make the liver have to work extra hard to process and clean out of your body.
Starting the Cleanse
When you first start your cleanse, remove any unhealthy foods from your diet, so that your liver has to work as little as possible. Drink only water for the first few days, and fast lightly, eating only fruits, light salads or other fresh foods. This will give your body the opportunity to rest and relax without having to worry about processing heavy or unhealthy foods. During the entire fast, drink as much water as possible, as this will help your body remove toxins at a rapid pace.
Specific Ingredients
After you finish with your light fast, start by taking capsules of milk thistle, dandelion root, ginger, sarsaparilla, parsley, nettle, yellow dock and kelp once in the morning and once in the evening. During the afternoon, drink tea comprised of dandelion, ginger, peppermint, rosemary and rose hips. These ingredients should be used for the first week of your cleanse. For the second week, you'll need to change your capsule ingredients, and only take dandelion root, milk thistle, ginger, spirulina and kelp. Again, do this once in the morning and once in the evening, and feel free to continue drinking the tea in the afternoons. After the second week of the cleanse is up, return to your normal diet.
