Start Over On The South Beach Diet After Eating Sugar

The South Beach Diet is an eating plan developed by a cardiologist named Dr. Arthur Agatson. While on this diet, you cut out foods high in carbohydrates and instead increase the amount of lean proteins you consume as well as low-glycemic index vegetables. If you have been on the South Beach Diet and have cheated by eating sugar, you should start over to stay on track.

Instructions

1. Return to Phase 1 if you eat sugar while on the South Beach Diet. If you have progressed to Phase 2 or Phase 3, start over with Phase 1. If you are still in Phase 1, extend the time you stay in this phase.

2. Stay on Phase 1 of the South Beach Diet for two weeks. After you have cheated by eating sugar on the diet, you should plan to get back on track by following the Phase 1 eating plan for two weeks.

3. Eat three meals a day as well as two snacks while you are restarting the South Beach Diet. Acceptable foods to consume during this period include poultry, beef, fish, crab, lobster, eggs, cheese, nuts, olive oils and vegetables.

4. Cut out any foods that are high in carbohydrates. This includes pastas, breads, cakes, cookies, potatoes, rice and pastries.

5. Drink a lot of water when you are restarting the South Beach Diet. Other acceptable beverages include tea and coffee without sugar.
