Head & Neck Pain Symptoms

There are many different types of head and neck pain, so it can be confusing to determine if you head and neck pain is a serious condition or something minor. Read on for the major symptoms of head and neck pain.


Headache


Headaches can be minor or major, including stress headache or migraines. Headaches that last more than three days can mean a more serious issue may be effecting you and you should seek medical help.


Stiffness in the Neck


Stiffness in the neck can be caused by neck strain or by a more serious condition, such as meningitis. If the stiffness in the neck is accompanied by a fever, seek medical help right away.


Numbness


Numbness can happen in or around the neck and radiate down the arms. This can be caused by pinched nerves in the neck or by a more serious condition, such as heart attack.


Pins and Needles


You may experience a sensation of pins and needles in the hands or fingers. This can also be caused by pinched nerves or by a circulation problem.


Pain in the Back








Neck or head pain may radiate down into the back. Back pain may be caused by neck injury or by muscle strain.
