Depression
Depression is a serious illness that affects a person's mood and outlook on life. It can occur for a number of reasons such as a loss of a job, or the birth of a new baby. If depression is left untreated it can result in suicide. If you are suffering from depression you can begin to treat it naturally. However, if you do not see your depression lifting, you really need to get help from a professional.
St. John's Wort
St. John's Wort is an all natural herb used to treat a person's mood. It can significantly improve the person's ability to handle each day and its activities. Those suffering from depression can take two 450 mg capsules with each meal. In order to see improvements, the person must take it on a daily basis. If the St. John's Wort is helping, don't go off of it. Keep taking it even when the symptoms of depression go away, or they will come back again.
Warning: If you take any medications or you are pregnant or suffering from diabetes, you need to get permission from your doctor to take St. John's Wort.
SAM-e
SAM-e is another all natural dietary supplement that has the ability to lift your mood. SAM-e works because it raises a person's dopamine levels. As an added benefit, SAM-e works to promote healthy joints and liver function. Individuals should take one 400 mg capsule each day on an empty stomach. Just take it once per day when you get out of bed, but before you eat breakfast to start your day off right.
Warning: If you are taking any other medications you will need to get your doctor's permission to take this supplement. You should also not take SAM-e if you are suffering from manic depression.
Exercise
Exercise is good at relieving stress and also reduces depression. Exercising stimulates certain hormones in your body that make you feel good. Also, the better your body feels, the better you will feel about yourself. Not only can exercise help you get rid of your depression, it can also prevent the depression from coming back. Begin working out for a half an hour each day, and then slowing work your way up to one hour of exercise each day. Exercising won't work for severe depression so you will still need to see your doctor for treatment.
