Home Remedies For Body Acne Scars

Remove Acne Scars

You may feel relieved that you finally have your body acne beat, but a telltale sign may still remain--acne scars. If you have suffered with body acne and are now left with scars, you can see a dermatologist for a very expensive removal procedure. If laser removal isn't in your budget, you can get results on your own with home remedies for body acne scars.

Lemons

Lemons contain citric acid that can lighten acne scars on the skin the same way lemon juice sprayed onto your hair can lighten your locks. Fresh-squeezed lemons work best, although lemon juice from concentrate is also effective. First, clean the afflicted area with an oil-free product like Neutrogena Oil-Free Cleanser to remove any residue on the skin. Dry the area thoroughly with a clean towel. Cut a lemon in half and while gently squeezing on the lemon, rub the meat of the lemon against the skin. Continue until the entire afflicted area is covered in juice. Leave the juice on the skin for 10 minutes; then rinse thoroughly with water and dry with a clean towel.

Baking Soda

Baking soda is a natural lightener that can whiten teeth and also your skin. The grains in baking soda also act as an exfoliant, which removes dead skin cells to reveal brighter skin and reduce the appearance of scars. When used regularly, baking soda works to minimize acne scars. Add one part baking soda to two parts water. Gently rub the mixture over the afflicted area for up to two minutes. The texture of the baking soda will work to exfoliate your skin, even if you only press lightly. Rinse with water and dry thoroughly with a clean towel after exfoliating with baking soda.

Olive Oil

Olive oil is a natural moisturizer that can work to regain skin's suppleness and elasticity, which reduces the appearance of scars over time. Olive oil can range from fairly inexpensive to incredibly expensive, depending on the quality of the oil and whether it was created from the first pressing of the olives. Although expensive oil may taste better, a second-pressed, less expensive olive oil will work just the same on your skin. Pour a quarter-sized amount of olive oil on your hand and rub it into skin that has been cleansed with an oil-free cleanser. Remove any excess oil with a paper towel.
